On March 14th, the closing ceremony of the 12th CIAMEN-CIArb Advanced Arbitration Course took place in the Lecture Hall of San Pablo CEU University. A significant participation was the Chair of the Iberian Chapter European Branch, Nazareth Romero FCIArb, also representing the President of Chartered Institute of Arbitrators CIArb, Mohamed Abdel Wahab.

In her speech, the President of the Iberian Chapter described the importance of CIArb at the present time, also considering the existing situation of CIArb in Spain, Portugal, and Andorra.

Specifically, she framed CIArb as a magical point from which two parallel paths open up: The first path is the path of personal and collective training, which involves updating knowledge, scientific research, cultural exchanges, sharing innovative theories, organizing seminars, conferences, and meetings, whether in person or virtually, constituting a broad path. She went on to express that the existence of a second, parallel path is essential, and an effect of the first: individual and collective professionalism capable of integrating itself into the specific cases of industry, the production of services, and their resolution. It is a narrow path where the Professional carries out his personal and professional life with dedication and sacrifice. Merely put, the first path of training is meaningless if it does not develop the path of professionalism, in which the potential of the training career will be realized.

Within this cultural and productive context, Romero gives CIArb the vision and mission of addressing the world in the concrete of ADRs through mediation, conciliation, adjudication, and, remarkable, arbitration. All of this is based on a constructive and innovative approach under the light of transparency so that everyone can learn and decide. Nazareth Romero concluded: “This vision ignites the energetic creative intelligence that will reveal and update the real situation of the production and service sectors with certain rules in content, procedures, and, ultimately, timing.”
