The appointment was agreed by the Executive Committee of the Spanish Olympic Committee at its meeting on 28 April 2026 and officially announced by its President, Mr Alejandro Blanco Bravo. Subsequently, Nazareth Romero accepted this appointment, placing her experience and knowledge at the service of Spanish sport and the principles of independence, impartiality and excellence that inspire sports arbitration.
This appointment constitutes a significant institutional recognition of a professional career spanning more than thirty-six years dedicated to the legal profession, international arbitration, mediation, and the prevention and resolution of complex disputes in national and international settings.
Since 1990, Nazareth Romero has practised as a lawyer, international arbitrator and mediator. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb) and a partner at Ovoli Romero Abogados, S.L., based in El Escorial (Madrid), as well as at Ovoli Frugoni A.P., based in Rome. Through her professional activities in Spain, Italy and India, she advises companies, institutions and individuals on international arbitration, mediation, cross-border litigation, international trade, investment, intellectual property, sustainability and corporate governance.
